PASSIVES

Have and get something done

Use have or get + object + past participle when someone else does a job for you, and get + person + to + verb when you make someone do something.

Have або get + додаток + дієприкметник, коли роботу за вас робить хтось інший, і get + особа + to + дієслово, коли ви змушуєте когось щось зробити.

Use have + thing + past participle when someone else does a service for you, such as a haircut or a repair. Have + річ + дієприкметник вживаємо, коли послугу виконує хтось інший: стрижка, ремонт.

  • I had my hair cut yesterday. Вчора я підстригся (мене підстригли).
  • We are having the kitchen painted. Нам фарбують кухню.
  • I had cut my hair at the salon.
  • I had my hair cut at the salon.

Типова помилка: Українською кажуть «я підстригся», але в англійській I cut my hair означає, що ви зробили це самі. Якщо роботу виконує інший, потрібне have + річ + дієприкметник.
