VERBS

That-clauses

After verbs like think, know, hope and say, and after adjectives like sure and glad, you can put a whole sentence. That is optional, and the sentence keeps statement word order.

Після дієслів think, know, hope, say і прикметників sure, glad можна поставити ціле речення. That необов'язковий, а порядок слів — як у розповідному реченні.

with thatwithout that
+I think that she is at home.I think she is at home.
−He said that he didn't know.He said he didn't know.
?Do you think that it will rain?Do you think it will rain?

No comma before that · Statement order inside: I know she is busy, not I know is she busy · That is needed after it's + adjective in writing
