Present continuous

am / is / are + verb-ing. It shows what is happening now or around now, not what happens every day.

am / is / are + дієслово з -ing. Показує, що відбувається зараз або в цей період, а не що буває щодня.

Типова помилка: В українській «Я працюю» значить і «зараз», і «взагалі». В англійській для «зараз» потрібне am / is / are + -ing.

Типова помилка: «Завтра я зустрічаюся» — в українській теперішній час. В англійській для домовленості потрібне present continuous: I'm meeting, а не I meet.

Verbs that stay simple

Verbs of state, like know, like, want, need and understand, do not use -ing. Use present simple for them, even now. Дієслова стану (know, like, want, need, understand) не вживаються з -ing. Навіть «зараз» для них потрібен present simple.
